Senior Restructuring Professional

NYC Private Credit Investment Firm

 

J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Senior   Turnaround & Restructuring Professional at a prominent Private Credit Investment Firm Headquartered in NYC focused on Middle Market Special Situations Direct Lending.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·          Develop, review, and oversee the implementation of business restructuring and recovery plans which create value and improve financial performance

·         Assess business challenges, needs, and gaps, diagnose root problems, and oversee the implementation of operating solutions

·         Provide feedback on budgets and long-term business plans, assess risks and downside analyses with respect to capital needs

·         Evaluate and oversee cost savings initiatives and execution milestones

·         Conduct financial analysis of companies and develop financial models across a variety of industries, including review of operations and cash flow forecasts

·         Interface with company and stakeholders’ legal and financial advisors on all aspects of restructuring transactions

·         Assess organizational and management team structures and effectiveness

·         Act as the point of contact for certain assigned workstreams within an operational and financial turnaround

·         Actively challenge assumptions, hypotheses, and outcomes

·         Understand key elements of restructurings and bankruptcy case management

·         Help set priorities across multiple work streams, identify key milestones, and manage accordingly

·         Present effectively to management teams and other professionals related to analyses/issues

·         Handle client interactions at multiple levels

·         Maintain constant communications with senior professionals to ensure coordination of activities and manage expectations

·         Support external financing processes for portfolio companies

·         Assess, structure, and lead buy-side and sell-side M&A opportunities including underwriting, diligence, and legal documentation

 

Qualifications:

  • 8 - 12 years of relevant experience with a special situations, private equity or private credit firm, or top-tier restructuring advisory firm  - Corporate restructuring, private credit, private equity, or special situations, specifically with hands-on experience in directly managing workouts, restructurings, and crises management with borrowers and company managers. 

·         Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel is required

·         Experience with analytical tools and financial analyses that show a proper understanding of competing needs (timing, flexibility, detail, risk) with limited direction

·         Experience with financial modeling including 13-week cash flow models and three statement analysis

·         Identify and articulate opportunities for more advanced analytic approaches outside of basic Excel

·         Demonstrated ability to contribute to identification of key issues

·         Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving capability

·         Demonstrated ability to synthesize analysis and draw conclusions

·         Interpersonal skills and maturity to communicate effectively with lower middle market management teams and extract actionable intelligence from complex situations;

·         Advanced Excel Skills: Ability to build operational and financial models, correlation, valuation, runoff, liquidation, and various other types of analyses with limited supervision;

·         Proven and demonstrable analytical capabilities, ability to creatively extract and evaluate relevant data points from imperfect sets of information;

·         An entrepreneurial mindset and the capability to manage multiple complex situations in parallel, understanding the operating requirements of private businesses during growth, evolution and potentially turnaround phases;

·         Effective writing skills for the creation of memorandums and investment performance summaries;

·         Ability to understand and negotiate complex credit and other legal agreements;

·         Advanced familiarity with capital structure and corporate debt including: Leveraged Finance; Restructuring; Structured Finance; and ABS.

 

Education:

·         Strong academic record and a bachelor’s or higher degree in Finance, Business,        

Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or Sciences preferred

·         MBA, CFA, CIRA, CPA or other relevant graduate degree or certification a plus.

The salary range is $200,000 - $225,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable laws.
